We shall overcome: supporting those hit by the cuts & celebrating our solidarity

Picture
We shall overcome - Of course this must be our first song! Here's a link to Joan Baez singing it.  We have other words*.
Bella Ciao  is an Italian anti-fascist partisan song of World War II (This link is to a version sung in Italian with video images from Greece).  We make up our own lyrics* to suit the occasion and the melody bears a close resemblance to a  Yiddish  Klezmer tune Koilen
World in their pocket - by Malvina Reynolds (1900-1978)
Pay me my money down - A Calypso sea shanty that we sing to our own lyrics*.  This link is to The Weavers singing it with some easy harmonies
TTIP Don't fence me in - I've adapted the lyrics*from a version heard in Seattle and sung to Cole Porter's tune (The link is to Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters)
We'll fight on - this link is to the Strawberry Thieves Choir singing their lyrics* to the tune of Amen Siakudumisa

Rise Up Singing: Songs for Peace & Plenty 5th September 2015

We're calling this Peace & Plenty to draw attention to the fact that if we didn't spend billions of pounds on war and weapons, there's be plenty of money to make sure everyone is housed, fed and cared for.   And some of us will sing these songs in protest at the International Arms Fair on 12th September 2015 in London where "defence and security" equipment will be sold to murderers, despots and torturers all over the world. Get the song book here. And click on links below for those youtube covers or sound files that I can find.

Deep Blue Sea. If I were free and Peace:  These are songs from 'Voices for Peace' led by MatiJo Beams in Tasmania.  She taught it to us with harmonies and signing for the deaf.
Ain't gonna study war no more - This is a link to Pete Seeger singing it - choose your own cover & your own harmony!
Bella Ciao  is an Italian anti-fascist partisan song of World War II (This link is to a version sung in Italian with video images from Greece).  We make up our own lyrics to suit the occasion and the melody bears a close resemblance to a  Yiddish  Klezmer tune Koilen (check out this link for a great jazz mash-up of these tunes!)
